showmyipaddress.io is a free site for checking your IP address, looking up information about other IPs and hostnames, and understanding how the internet sees you. We also publish plain-English guides on networking, privacy, and online security.

What we build

• A homepage that shows your public IPv4 or IPv6 address with the location, ISP, and device info that any website you visit could also see — except we tell you about it.
• A growing set of free network tools — IP lookup, hostname lookup, blacklist check, subnet calculator, WebRTC leak test, email header analyzer.
• A blog covering the basics of IP addresses, IPv4 vs IPv6, VPN vs Tor vs proxies, and how to keep your network private.

What we do (and don't) collect

To show you your IP, we have to receive it — that's how the internet works. We use it once to look up your geolocation and ISP, and we don't store it. We don't run third-party trackers, sell visitor data, or build advertising profiles. The full details are in our privacy policy.

Why we built it

Most "what is my IP" sites are either covered in trackers or sell their visitors to ad networks. We wanted a site that's fast, useful, and respects the people using it. The tools work the same whether you're a developer debugging a connection or someone curious about the message your network sends to every site you visit.
